enjoy your stay in Amsterdam to the fullest!

Amsterdam is, with her 780.000 people, one of the greatest smallest cities in the world. Therefore everything is at walking or cycling distance.

The Tangomagia festival offers you different possibilities to experience tango in Amsterdam at various locations. This way you would get the chance to enjoy Amsterdam to the fullest! The venues are located in the center and close to the center, so you can easily move between locations.

How to get from A to B

The location of the workshops and the MagiaMarathon is USC Science Park, nearby Amsterdam center. There is a fast connection to the center by public transport:

Trains run every 30 minutes the whole day until midnight! The train brings you in just 8 minutes from station Science Park to Amsterdam Central Station and in just 2 minutes to station Amsterdam Muiderpoort.

Bus 40 stops in front of Science Park and brings you, amongst other stops, to Amsterdam Muiderpoort station in a few minutes.

Last but not least: we offer you the unique possibility to discover and explore Amsterdam by bike! We will have bikes for rent at the location of the workshops and the marathon: USC Science Park. Most locals get around by bicycle, no matter which season of the year it is.

About Science Park and the Muiderpoort area

Tangomagia has found a brand new and inspirational location where the workshops and the marathon take place: USC Science Park. It is located in the east of the city, only 4 km from the city center.

The Science Park area, close to the Muiderpoort station, is a modern area and a meeting place for entrepreneurs, scientists and students in the field of IT and the Life Sciences.

Because of its modern built, de building is perfect for workshops and the MagiaMarathon. There is enough space for dancing, a nice atmosphere, a beautiful wooden floor, a bar and restaurant, and good overnight facilities that would make your stay at Science Park a success!

The area is perfect for walks and for cycling. Travelling by bike is one of the best ways to explore and discover Amsterdam! A bike ride of 15 minutes will bring you to the city center.

Muiderpoort Station is in the east of Amsterdam, the Dutch call this area, Amsterdam East. This vibrant, upcoming neighbourhood is filled with a lot of different cultures and identities. You will find nice terraces and restaurants, a fresh market, lots of museums, parks, and even a windmill with a brewery where they produce home-brewed beer.

From Muiderpoort Station you can reach other Amsterdam attractions in no time. They are all at walking and cycling distance, and Muiderpoort counts with trams, buses and trains.

The salon on Thursday 29 December, Hotel Arena, is located in this area. Hotel Arena is an over 100 year old former orphanage, re-styled into one of Amsterdam's cultural hot-spots.

Nearby Hotel Arena you will find Artis Zoo, The Museum of the Tropics, The IJ brewery next to De Gooyer windmill, and The Hortus Botanicus.

Artis Royal Zoo

The royal zoo of Amsterdam, Artis, was founded in 1838 and continues to be one of the most popular attractions in Amsterdam. Next to various animals and plants, Artis holds also a library, an aquarium, a planetarium, a geological museum, and zoological museum. The Zoological museum gives an interesting insight into the museum’s scientific collections dating back to the 19th century.

Museum of the Tropics

The museum of the tropics, is an anthropological museum established in 1864. The museum accommodates eight permanent exhibitions and an ongoing series of temporary exhibitions, including both modern and traditional visual arts and photographic works.

Brewery 't IJ and De Gooyer windmill

The IJ brewery was opened in 1985, by a former musician, and was one of several small breweries that opened in cities around the Netherlands in response to consumers dissatisfaction with beer brewed by the larger companies. It currently brews five standard beers and four seasonal beers, besides occasional beers. All the beers are certified organic. The brewery allows tours and tastings, and has a pub with an outdoor terrace.

Hortus Botanicus

The Hortus Botanicus is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. The collection is famous for some of its trees and plants, some of which are on the "danger" list, also well-known plants and trees can be found there.
